Extra-curricular opportunities

Students enjoy a wide variety of activities enrich our formal curriculum; particularly in sport and in the provision of additional learning support sessions.

Students enjoy school and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is enriched by a range of opportunities. Many students participate in activities both within and out of the school. We have a Breakfast Club in the early morning and offer a range of sporting, dramatic and academic activities at lunchtime and after school.

We also run a range of sport-related events, including an outdoor pursuit's trip to the Lake District. Concerts and performances are a regular feature of the school calendar, with past productions including Blood Brothers, A Night on Broadway.

Subject departments enhance the curriculum in many ways. Enhancement activities include:

  • Visits to Germany and France, including links with our partner schools
  • Trips to the theatre and Chester Zoo
  • An in-school programme of visiting poets and drama groups
  • Language Arts Day
  • Peripatetic music lessons
  • An environmental club
  • Health days
  • The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme

Students gain a great deal by participating fully in various aspects of school life and we encourage them to take full advantage of these opportunities.
