SOCIOLOGY – GCSE

COURSE DETAILS:

Sociology seeks to account for the varied forms of human society and to look at the impact of culture and social organisation on individual lives. Pupils will use the concepts and analytical framework to reflect upon their own experiences of the social world.

Pupils will gain the ability to use evidence and to arrive at reasoned judgements based on information from a variety of sources

Unit One : - Understanding Social Processes - 50%

Pupils must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of social structures and social
differentiation in contemporary society.
This will include family, education, media and sport and leisure + Research methods

Unit Two: - Understanding Social Structures - 50%

Pupils must show an awareness of causes and consequences of inequality.
This will include:
work, power & participation, crime & deviance, citizenship + Research methods
